Muladhara Chakra




The root chakra is located at the base of your spine, also known as the cocyyx, and is considered the first of the 7 chakras.


The root chakra governs the lower half of the body including lower back, spine, legs, kidneys and bladder. Psychologically, the root chakra rules your sense of survival or instinct. The root chakra gets its name due to the plethora of psychological components directly related to your personal and family foundation. The root chakra begins to develop directly after birth where we begin to create the foundation of morals and values, behaviors and defense mechanisms that help us to create our world and our reality.


There are many psychological disorders that can develop due to an unbalanced root chakra. Let's take a look at what an underachieving or overactive root chakra looks like....


Underactive Root Chakra

  • Feeling disconnected from the world

  • Feeling distant from relatives

  • Acting kinda spacey

  • Feeling overwhelmingly exhausted

  • Feeling tired often

  • Neglecting yourself

  • Weighing less than normal

  • Having trouble disciplining yourself

  • Feeling unusually depressed

  • Feeling unusually passive or lethargic

  • Experiencing chronic disorganization


Overactive Root Chakra

  • Feeling anxious, nervous or paranoid often

  • Questioning you love, life or career

  • Feeling confused about your future

  • Overeating frequently

  • Feeling aggressive often

  • Being closed off and having too many boundaries

  • Presenting dominant behavior

  • Seeking adrenaline rushes

  • Hoarding objects or poasessions

  • Fixtating on material things


If any of these behaviors associated with an unbalanced root chakra, they can develop into psychological problems that can seep into your life and relationships. You should strive for balance in all areas of your life. The following are different ways you can try to balance your root chakras.


Balance Your Root Chakra


Nature: Work with plants, walk barefoot in the dirt, dance, meditation and personal awareness

Visualizations: Imagine a glowing red light at the base of your spine.

Yoga: Positions where your tailbone touches the ground

Mantra: I am (vibration of middle C)

Crystals: Bloodstone, Garnet, Hematite, Onyx, Tourmaline

Essential Oils: Basil, Cedar, Myrrh, Vetiver

Affirmation: I AM A DIVINE BEING OF LIGHT, I AM PEACEFUL PROTECTED AND SECURE.
